The Playground Round II

So I'm still working on my playground project and I've been shooting in different locations each time. This playground is beside the soccer pitch in Ballybane, Galway and I went down around 9.30 at night because I wanted to do a night shoot and I thought the lights from the pitch and the street lights combined would add a cool effect. I shot these on a Canon SLR I borrowed from college but I also shot on a Medium Format Hassleblad. Meduim format is the bane of my life but my lecturer insists its worth it so I'm taking her word on it for now!  I love how these shots turned out, a big thanks to my friend Jen who came along with me and helped me out big time! Any opinions?

On Fire

So another old project that I am still fond of. My second year studio project involved nature and natural disasters and as part of it I looked at bush fires etc.. So to get some personal research I went out and lit my own fire and took photos to work from in studio. I really like the contrast of the flames and the black background in them. No bush fires were started as a result of my little fire i promise!

That Time I Went to Oxford

So February 2011 I took a trip to Oxford, England to visit a friend. I can honestly say it is one of the coolest places I've ever been! From the Hogwarts style Universities to the sandy stone Libraries and  the gigantic crested doorways I was in awe... Here's a few of my favourite photos which include a snap from the famous Covered Markets (pic. 4) and the very old Bodleian Library (pic. 6) and just the architecture in general. Hope you like it!
                           P.s.: Visit Oxford its amazing!

Wrong Turn...

So after my photo-shoot in the playground I was driving home past this lake and I had to pull over the get photographs of the sky and the lake. Believe me when I say this area is secluded and I'm 90% certain that some possible murderer was watching me from the woods but I chanced it anyways and here's how they came out. I used a filter in dad's canon powershot (as opposed to mine) which darkens the border for the last  photograph and I like the ominous effect it has on it. Any thoughts?

Come Play...

Well people, welcome to my photography blog..
this is my first post and it features a super creepy playground. I shot the photos using a canon powershot digital camera, my photography lecturer would be ashamed but hey... It's for a project in college (3rd year art student) and my theme is black and white landscapes and it also follows on from my project last semester in which i shot (with a camera not a gun) a teddy bear in a playground at night. The idea was to make him look like a shady little bear, those photos will appear up as soon as I locate them in my laptop! anyways i shot some of these photographs in colour too just because.. let me know what you think,
Peace out
ps: I'm still working out this blog stuff so it won't be white and black forever
